Getting Ready for Fortnite Leagues at SNDBX

Getting Ready for Fortnite Leagues at SNDBX

DON' HIT SNOOZE ON THIS.

TOMORROW WILL BE A LOT MORE FUN IF THE ACCOUNTS ARE READY!

Hi! I bet you were hoping to get some last minute HOMEWORK before your Fortnite League starts tomorrow. Wish granted!

Simply, you will need to link a Microsoft (Xbox) account to your Epic Game (Fortnite) account so you can setup and play on the SNDBX Xbox's using your own account.

You've spent too much money on V-Bucks not to show off your 'sweaty' skins and sick emotes. See below for detailed instructions on how to play on your own account at SNDBX.

PLEASE HAVE AN ACTIVE MICROSOFT (XBOX) ACCOUNT LOGIN AND PASSWORD AS WELL AS AN EPIC GAMES (FORTNITE) LOGIN AND PASSWORD WITH YOU TOMORROW AND READY TO INPUT INTO THE SNDBX XBOX'S.

WE WILL MAKE SURE THESE BECOME PASSWORD PROTECTED ONSITE IF THEY AREN'T ALREADY.

THIS IS IN BOLD AND CAPS BECAUSE I AM SCREAMING THIS INSTRUCTION! I did say please, so it was a nice scream.

How to Link Your Epic Games (Fortnite) Account to an Xbox at SNDBX

Welcome to the SNDBX Fortnite Youth League! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you use your own Epic Games account on our Xbox consoles. By linking your account, you’ll get all your skins, progress, and friends list while playing on SNDBX’s Xbox. This guide has sections for players on PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

Important: Each player should use their own Epic account – do not share your account or password with others epicgames.com. Make sure you know your Epic Games login (username/email and password) before starting. You’ll also need a phone or another device with internet to complete the link (we’ll use it to enter a code). If you have 2FA (two-factor authentication) on your Epic account, be ready to enter a verification code from your email or app.

Now, find your platform below and follow the simple steps!

For Players on PC (Windows/Mac)

If you usually play Fortnite on a PC (using the Epic Games Launcher), you already have an Epic Games account. Great! Now you’ll link that account to the SNDBX Xbox. Just follow these steps:

  1. Launch Fortnite on the SNDBX Xbox. When the game starts and asks “Been here before?”, choose “Link an Account” on the login screen (do NOT choose “Skip This”)

This option lets you sign in with your Epic account.

Tip: If you accidentally select “Skip”, the Xbox will use a temporary account and your progress won’t carry over – so be sure to pick “Link an Account.”

  1. Above

  2. Get the unique linking code. After you choose to link, Fortnite will show an 8-digit code on-screen with instructions. It will say something like “Visit https://www.epicgames.com/activate” and “Enter the following code:” along with the code itself

Leave this screen open on the Xbox (don’t press anything else) while you do the next step. You’ll see a countdown timer, but you have plenty of time to complete the process.

  1. a

  2. a

  3. Go to the Epic Games activation website on your phone or PC. On your phone/computer, open a web browser and go to epicgames.com/activate

  4. Log in with your Epic Games account. After entering the code, the website will ask you to sign in to your Epic Games account (if you’re not already signed in)
Sign in using the email/username and password for your Epic account – this is the same account you use on your PC.
If you have 2FA enabled, you might be prompted to enter a security code from your email or authenticator app

Have a parent help if needed.

On your phone, the Epic Games site will ask you to enter the code and then sign in. Make sure to log in with your own Epic account (the one you use at home).

  1. Finish linking and start playing. Once you’ve entered the code and logged in, you’ll see a success message on the website.

  2. Now return to the Fortnite game on the Xbox. The Fortnite screen should recognize the link and automatically log you in as your account. After a moment, you’ll see the Fortnite lobby on Xbox with your username, skins, and progress loaded. You can now play using your own account! 🎉

For Players on PlayStation (PS4/PS5)

If you play Fortnite on a PlayStation, you also have an Epic Games account (even if you never directly created one). To use your Fortnite account on the SNDBX Xbox, make sure you know your Epic account credentials. If you never set an Epic Games email/password (for example, if you skipped that step when you first played on PS4/PS5), an account was still created for you in the background

epicgames.com

. In that case, ask a parent to help you set up an Epic Games account with your email before linking to Xbox. Once you have your Epic account ready, follow these steps:

  1. Launch Fortnite on the SNDBX Xbox and select “Link an Account.” When Fortnite starts on the Xbox, it will ask you to log in. Press the button for “Link an Account” (don’t press “Skip”)

    epicgames.com

. This ensures you’ll be able to sign in with the Epic account that’s linked to your PlayStation progress. (Skipping would put you on a new account, which we don’t want.)

  2. Note the 8-digit code on the screen. The Xbox will display an 8-digit code and tell you to visit the Epic Games activation site (it will say “Visit epicgames.com/activate”)

    epicgames.com

. Leave the Xbox on this code screen while you complete the next steps on your phone or computer. Make sure you keep the game on this screen until it confirms you’re linked.

  3. On your phone or PC, go to the Epic Games activation site. Open a browser on your phone (or a PC) and go to epicgames.com/activate. You can also scan the QR code from this guide or on the TV screen if it’s displayed. Enter the 8-digit code from the Xbox screen into the website

    epicgames.com

    , then tap Continue.

  4. Sign in to your Epic Games account. The site will now ask you to log in to your Epic account. Use the Epic Games email and password that are linked to your PlayStation Fortnite progress. (This is the account you used if you ever connected an email for Fortnite on PS4/PS5. If you never did, use the Epic account you just set up with your parent’s help.) Enter your credentials to sign in

    epicgames.com

. If you have two-factor authentication on your Epic account, complete the verification step (you might need to enter a code sent to your email or phone)

    epicgames.com

    .

  5. Link complete – enjoy Fortnite on Xbox. After you log in and finish the steps, the website will confirm that your device is now linked to your Epic account

    epicgames.com

. Look back at the Xbox – it should now load Fortnite with your account. You’ll see your Fortnite username on the top, and all your skins and progress will be available. Now you’re all set to play on the Xbox with your PlayStation account data!

For Players on Nintendo Switch

If you play Fortnite on a Nintendo Switch, you have an Epic Games account linked to your Nintendo account. Make sure you know the email and password for that Epic account. If you only ever played by logging in with your Nintendo account and never created a separate Epic Games login, then an Epic account (without an email/password) was automatically created for you

epicgames.com

. In that case, you should upgrade it to a full Epic account (with an email and password) before linking, so you don’t lose your progress – ask a parent for help on the Epic Games website. Once you have your Epic account details, follow these steps on the SNDBX Xbox:

  1. Open Fortnite on the Xbox and choose “Link an Account.” When the game launches, it will prompt you to log in. Select “Link an Account” (do not select “Skip”)

    epicgames.com

. This will allow you to sign in with your Epic account (the one tied to your Switch progress). Skipping would log you into a blank new account, so be careful to choose the link option.

  2. Get the code from the Xbox screen. The game will show an 8-character code on a blue screen and instruct you to go to the Epic activation site

    epicgames.com

. Keep this screen up on the Xbox. You’ll see a countdown (about 10 minutes) which is plenty of time. Don’t leave this screen until after you finish linking.

  3. Visit the Epic Games activation website on another device. Using a phone or computer, navigate to epicgames.com/activate. (If a QR code is available on the TV or in this guide, you can scan that with your phone’s camera to get to the site quickly.) Enter the code from the Xbox screen on the website

    epicgames.com

    and click Continue.

  4. Log in to your Epic Games account. Now the website will ask you to sign in with your Epic Games account. Use the Epic account login that is connected to your Nintendo Switch progress (this could be an email and password or a Nintendo ID login via Epic’s site). If you’re not sure, use the email you set when you linked Fortnite on your Switch. Sign in with your credentials

    epicgames.com

    epicgames.com

. If you have 2FA security on your Epic account, complete any verification steps (enter the code sent to your email, etc.)

    epicgames.com

    .

  5. Finish up and play. After signing in and entering the code, the linking process will be complete

    epicgames.com

. The Fortnite game on the Xbox will log you in with your account. You should see the Fortnite lobby showing your Switch account’s cosmetic items and level. You can now enjoy the game on Xbox with all your hard-earned progress!

Troubleshooting and Tips

  • “Account already linked” error: If you get a message that your console account is already linked to an Epic account (or vice versa), don’t panic. This usually means one of two things: 1) You or your parent already linked your console to a different Epic Games account in the past, or 2) you played on that console without linking and the game made a placeholder Epic account for you

    epicgames.com

. In either case, you might need to visit the Epic Games website to sort it out. The Epic Games support site can help identify which Epic account your console is tied to

    epicgames.com

. If you have a “nameless” Epic account (an account that was auto-created without an email) from playing on console, you should upgrade it to a full account with an email/password rather than trying to make a new account

    epicgames.com

. Ask a SNDBX coach or parent for help to safely resolve this issue.

  • Forgot your Epic Games password? If you can’t remember your password when trying to sign in, use the “Forgot Password” option on the Epic Games login page to reset it. You’ll get an email to change your password. It’s a good idea to do this before you come to SNDBX, so you’re ready to log in quickly. Get a parent to help if needed.

  • Always use the same Epic account you use at home: Do not create a brand new Epic Games account for the Xbox if you want to keep your progress, or you will start from scratch. The whole point of linking is to use your existing account. If you accidentally log into the wrong Epic account (and you don’t see your items), you should log out and try again with the correct account.

  • If someone else’s account is still logged in on the Xbox: Before linking your own account, make sure the Xbox isn’t already signed in to another player’s Epic account. If the previous user didn’t log out, you can sign out from the Fortnite game (go to the options menu and select “Logout” or “Switch Profile”) or restart the game to get the “Link an Account” screen. SNDBX staff can assist with this to ensure each player uses their own account.

  • Keep account info private: Remember not to share your Epic account email or password with friends. Also, when you finish playing, log out or unlink your account if others will use the same console after you. This protects your account. SNDBX staff will help make sure your account stays secure on shared consoles.

By following this guide, you’ll be all set to play Fortnite on our SNDBX-provided Xbox consoles using your very own account. Have fun, and good luck in the Fortnite Youth League! 🎮💪
